This page explains how to achieve objectives that are defined by numbers.
Between Start and Goal: The target line
We like to make fast decisions, act immediately and directly
see the result. Unfortunately it is not always that easy.
One example for a common peronal goal is to lose weight. That is
a process that might take weeks, months or years. And that is
o.k., because reducing weight too fast often causes damage on
your health or makes you gain even more weight after you stopped
your diet. But someone who is loing weight too slowly doesn't
see any effects and might give up soon without having reached
his aim too.
What we need is a constant improvement that is observable,
adjustable and effective.
And it helps to visualize the
development, to see whether you are within the wanted range or
not.
meineZIELE provides a special graphic chart for this issue: the so-called "target line".
Reducing weight
The example on the right shows that someone is trying to lose 25 lbs in 5 months.
The weight at the beginning is 225 pounds on the 1st of January 2014. The aim is to have only 200 pounds at the 1. of June 2014.
The diagonal shows the average weight on this way.
The black line shows the real weight, which is entered by the person every day.
Green means that the weight is even lower than needed.
To see the pounds shrinking can be really motivating. And keeping the motivation up is very important when you are trying to lose weight!
Reducing weight is just an example. The target line can be used for all kind of issues.
How it is done:
Open the line menu by right-clicking on the chosen line. Chose "Create target line"
This is how the window for the target line looks like:
To change the dates and figures click on the button for settings (screw wrench) .
Now you can enter the values for start and target and change the dates. When you are using the target line for reducing weight, you enter the current date as the "start date" and your current weight in the field "start value".
The "target value" must contain the weight you want to have reached on the "finish date".
Entering values
Click on on the screw wrench button
again to
save the chosen settings.
Now you can start
entering current values.
When
you are moving the courser over the field a navigation is
showing date and weight.
Enter the current weight every day
by clicking at the appropriate position.

aim is to stay in the green area.
