Budgets

Goals require an overall view of the finances. We do not need balance sheets or profit and loss statements, but a budget we do need at any rate. This page is about the use of budgets and the available tools in meineZIELE.

Usually it costs money to realize our goals. To prevent surprises, we calculate the costs of our plans in advance. Therefore we develop a budget. In meineZIELE, the same rules as for goals are valid for the budget. Any amounts of money can be inserted easily in the respective line of a goal or a task.

Sums

meineZIELE optionally sums up the budgets of entries of the same hierarchy level.

Manually inserted amounts are displayed in black and calculated sums in green.

Observance: Manually inserted entries will not be corrected by any calculation. If the sum of amounts of the lower level is different to the manually inserted amount of the top level, this amount will not be replaced. Instead, it will be shown in red (1). By that, you can also make estimations with incomplete budget data. Of course, you may want to use the budget field for other resources as well.

Target-performance comparison

For a good traceability of project costs, there are two budget fields available. They serve for target-performance comparison.

For instance, a construction project could be differentiated by involved crafts. As shown in the screenshot, a hierarchical budget could consist of fewer items in the plan than in the actual. So, the renovation of the living room was estimated fixed with an amount of €15,000. The actual costs were generated by four different craftsmen. The actual costs of the living room renovation are calculated to €14,190 and thus shown in green.

As shown in the example, the documentation of incoming bills can be linked directly to the descriptive lines of the outliner. In this case, a document list was assigned to the main entry "Renovation" which also contains all four received bills. Of course, it could also be meaningful to document each entry individually with plans, offers, down-payments and bills. For linked documents the 1-click-filing serves best.

The target-performance comparison can also be displayed as an objective-fulfillment graphics, if you are running meineZIELE Pro.

Capital assets etc

Some of our customers use meineZIELE also to observe their capital assets; others hold a list of shares and certificates they would like to buy or sell sometime. Therefore meineZIELE provides automatic updates of share values.
