How to establish a chat:

To be able to use the chat function you have to establish a team. When you want to use the chat function it is important that each team member joins the team. So meineZIELE knows which persons / computers should be connected with each other. You can chat as a team or in single chats.

The chat function is not depending on the system of delegation and reporting.
 

Open a chat:

There are 3 ways to open a chat:

1. Use the team button   to open the team survey.
Here you can select a team or a single person per click. Then use the envelope button to open the chat.

2. When you receive a new message (and you did select the option "Monitor new messages automatically" in the chat setting) a sign appears at the right bottom of the program window (vertical envelope). Click on the envelope to enter the corresponding chat.

3. If you are using the column "Who? Icon" you can use right click on a person to open the chat with this person.
 

Chat settings:

If you are planning to use the chat functions it makes sense to activate the monitoring function for new messages (and maybe a beep). More settings are e.g. the font size in the chat window and the number of days after which messages will be deleted.
 

The chat window:

The chat window contains the chat log. On the left there are the messages you sent. All the other messages you find on the right. Use the team button    to open the team survey. There you can change to another chat.

At the bottom of the window there is the text field for writing your messages. Send your messages by using the Enter key (this option has to be selected in the chat settings), by the shortcut "Alt + S" as well as with the send button  .

When you scroll over a message inside the chat window, detail information according this message will be displayed.. These are the date and time when the message was sent and who has read this message.

To save the chat log click on  . (Scroll down for more information.)

Double click on a message in the chat window saves it in the clipboard so it can be interted somewhere else after by using "Ctrl + V" or "Paste".
 

New messages:

When there are new messages available this is shown by an en:velope in the team survey. Click on the envelope to open the chat. The placement of the envelope shows in which chat you received the new message (level of the name of the team = teamchat, level of the name of a team member = single chat with this person).

Inside the chat window a new message is marked by a different color.

If you did select the monitoring function in the chat settings, there will also be a sign in the right bottom corner of the program window (vertical envelope) when you receive a new message. Click on the envelope to open the chat.

You can also be informed by a beep.
 

Save a chat log file:

Especially when you are using the chat function regularly or you exchange big data through it, it is important to delete the chat log after a short time. Please enter the number of days in the chat settings.

 To save your current messages in a log file, please click on to open a dialog window and save the file.
Attention: This file is saved unencrypted. So pleas make sure to save it in a secure place. To open and read the log file later use Word Pad.
 

Miscellaneous:

The chat function of meineZIELE is not a cloud service but is processed with files in your own network. But it is possible to use the chat through a cloud service like e.g. Dropbox.

It is possible to chat with one person in different chats (of different teams). This makes only sense in special cases.
